Anna is an actor working in film, television, theatre and voiceover in Toronto and across Canada. She founded the theatre company Rip Jaw Productions and produced and performed in the critically-acclaimed World Premiere of John Patrick Shanley’s A Woman Is A Secret.
Anna knew from the age of seven that she wanted to be an actor and attended the renowned Arts Canterbury High School in the Drama Program. Upon graduation, she received the National Arts Centre English Theatre Scholarship Award and traveled to the United Kingdom to attend the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts for her professional classical acting training.
Based in Toronto, Anna has performed on stages across the country, from The Citadel in Edmonton, to Theatre Aquarius and the Sudbury Theatre Centre. Most recently she played Hippolyta and Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Festival Players of Prince Edward County. In 2008, she was selected to attend the inaugural year of the Citadel/Banff Centre Professional Theatre Program for a post-graduate training in acting.
Anna recently played Verna Jones in Murdoch Mysteries, played Jen in the Netflix thriller Gone and performed in Birdman, the Academy Award winning film by Alejandro González Iñárritu. Other film credits include Cosmopolis (directed by David Cronenberg), Casino Jack, God and Country; as well as roles on many TV series. In demand in the indie film scene in Toronto, Anna loves collaborating on projects. Her first short film Baby Brain, which she wrote, executive produced and stars in, premiered at the Toronto and New York Short Film Festivals, and is directed by Mars Horodyski. Her second short film, Orchid, was the winner of the Toronto ACTRA Women’s Committee Toolkit Award, and is currently streaming on the National Screen Institute’s Online Short Film Festival. Anna has received Canada Council support to travel to the National Silent Theatre of Sweden (Tyst Teater) to work with artistic director, Josette Bushell-Mingo. Together with an international team, they created a play entitled To A Flame, integrating Sign Language and Deaf and hearing performance practice.
When not acting, Anna can be found on a yoga mat, a surf board, a pair of skis, or renovating old homes. Come visit her at The Ferg, Prince Edward County’s boutique vacation rental home, featured in HGTV and Toronto Life, and named one of the top three best decorated hotels in Canada.
